Indara’s Disaster Recovery Skids program is underway and will be ready for deployment from June 2026 in New South Wales and Victoria, to protect critical digital infrastructure during increasingly frequent and severe natural disasters.

As part of the Australian Government’s Mobile Network Hardening Program Round 2, Indara will mobilise two disaster recovery skids in partnership with mobile network operators to help maintain connectivity during crises. This initiative reflects the Government's focus on improving telecommunications resilience in rural, regional and remote Australia.

These transportable, self-contained mobile communication sites are designed for rapid deployment to maintain network coverage during outages, post-disaster recovery or site relocations. They can also be used to enhance or expand network capacity during major events, minimising downtime and service disruption.

During emergencies, Indara’s Disaster Recovery Skids will support communities by maintaining access to communications, enabling people to reach loved ones, access essential information and coordinate recovery efforts.

This program builds on Indara’s strong partnership with the Commonwealth Government, including recent funding under the Telecommunications Disaster Resilience Innovation (TDRI) program, to strengthen network resilience and improve access to reliable telecommunications services.

By enabling faster restoration of communications following major disruptions, the Disaster Recovery Skids will support continuity of service and assist communities during recovery.

This initiative reflects Indara’s role in accelerating a digitised future for our communities by strengthening the resilience of the infrastructure they rely on every day.
